Loyola Marymount University President Thomas Patrick O’Malley announced Friday that he plans to retire at the end of the 1998-99 academic school year.

O’Malley, 68, has led the Westchester-based Jesuit university since 1991.

He is credited with leading LMU’s recently completed comprehensive capital fund-raising campaign, which netted $144 million--$16 million over its goal.

“My health is good, the university is in excellent shape, it’s just time to go,” O’Malley said.
