Biopool Announces Canadian Distributor

Biopool International in Ventura has selected ESBE Scientific of Markham, Ontario, as the new distributor for Biopool products in Canada.

The company announced in December that it would close its Canadian subsidiary, Biopool Canada, by June of this year.

The company needed to find new distribution lines “to continue to support our existing customer base in Canada and, more importantly, provide a new marketing focus for our full range of products,” said Biopool chairman and CEO Michael D. Bick.

“With the appointment of ESBE, we expect not only to maintain our current sales base in Canada, but indeed expand sales for both immunohematology and hemostasis products,” he said.

ESBE Scientific is one of the largest Canadian-owned distributors serving the clinical, research, industrial and biotech laboratory market.

Biopool develops and manufactures test kits to assess and diagnose blood disorders, chemistry controls to monitor and measure drugs of abuse, and immunohematology products used to screen for antibodies and to group and type whole blood. The company’s products are sold to hospitals, blood bank facilities, and clinical and reference laboratories.
