First Stage Seeking Short Plays and Scenes for Marathon Readings

The nonprofit First Stage theater company is accepting short original plays and scenes for staged readings in its 12th annual “Playwrights Express” event to run April 25-26 and May 2-3, 1 to 10 p.m. each day.

All original works no more than 15 minutes will be accepted (unless deemed obscene), assigned to a director, rehearsed and performed by professional actors for the public on one of the marathon’s four days.

Submissions may be of any type of material, including one-acts, poetry, excerpts from novels, stand-up comedy or musical pieces. All rights remain the property of the author.

Each submission should include a check for the tax-deductible fee of $25 and enough copies of the piece for the actors and director. Videotapes will be available for an additional $25 each.
