Pine to Replace Felled Tree; 50 More Donated by Family

Share

Nearly a year after a 115-foot tree in a city park was felled by high winds, city officials will gather today to plant its replacement at an Arbor Day celebration.

A Torrey pine about 18 feet tall, a gift to the city from the Gonda family of Beverly Hills, will be planted during a ceremony at Beverly Gardens Park, said Steve Miller, the city’s director of Recreation and Parks.

In addition, the Gonda Family Foundation has donated 50 trees to the city to commemorate the wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Gonda. Twenty trees will be planted in Greystone Park, Miller said, and 30 will be installed on various city streets.
