Hospital Officials Say King Improving

King Fahd was reported improving after emergency gallbladder surgery, said hospital officials who asked to remain anonymous. The Saudi monarch was reported in stable condition after an operation by American surgeons at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in the capital, Riyadh. The king’s gallbladder was not removed, but officials gave no other details. This operation marked the first time since Fahd suffered a 1995 stroke that the country has publicly announced that the monarch was admitted to a hospital.
