First American Subsidiaries Add to Holdings

First American Financial Corp. said Wednesday that its title insurance subsidiary has acquired a Washington title insurer and that another subsidiary has bought a 42% stake in Pacific American Securities LLC, a licensed broker dealer.

The company’s primary subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Co., acquired Home Title Co. of Mason County Inc. in Shelton, Wash., and renamed it after itself.

The stake in Pacific American is being held by First American Capital Management, the parent company’s investment advisory unit.

The Santa Ana company, the nation’s largest title insurer, also filed a prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission to offer $100 million in debt securities. First American said it will use the proceeds for general purposes.
