Epic Passes on Deal With Harrell

Andre Harrell, who was ousted last year as chairman of PolyGram’s Motown Records, will not be setting up shop at Sony Music after all. After months of discussions with Harrell, executives at Sony’s Epic Records Group have decided not to underwrite a new label deal with Harrell. Sony released a statement Wednesday confirming that discussions to bring Harrell Entertainment to Epic have been terminated, mutually and amicably, due to philosophical differences.
