Clinton’s Comment Not About Monica
President Clinton made what might have been regarded as a comment on Monica S. Lewinsky, the former intern who is the central figure in the current White House controversy, but a spokesman said it wasn’t.
Clinton was speaking at an AFL-CIO conference Wednesday when someone in the audience shouted, “To hell with Monica.” Someone else in the crowd shouted, “Shut up.”
Clinton, at the microphone, said, “I couldn’t have said it better myself.”
White House spokesman Joe Lockhart said the president did not hear the “Monica” comment and was responding to the member of the audience who said, “Shut up.”
