Social Service Panel to Take Meeting to Community Setting
In an effort to involve more residents in the work of the city Social Service Commission, commissioners will hold their monthly meeting tonight at Virginia Avenue Park for a second time.
The board, which is focusing on youth issues this year, will discuss the possible formation of a commission composed of youngsters, said chairman Chuck Perliter.
“We’re charged with dealing with the homeless, youth, people who normally don’t have a voice in the community,” said Perliter. “We’re trying to go out into the community and make ourselves user-friendly.”
Tonight’s meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at Virginia Avenue Park, 2200 Virginia Avenue.
