Dave Lewis, 59, a giant in Northwest music who got national play in the 1960s with “David’s Mood” and “Little Green Things.” Lewis, who played the Hammond B-3 organ and other keyboards, mixed rhythm and blues and rock. He was the first black artist signed by Herb Alpert for A&M; Records. In 1951 Lewis started the Dave Lewis Combo, which recorded five albums with A&M.; In 1982 Lewis started the Paramount Theater Orchestra, a 30-piece house band that opened for such performers as Gladys Knight. He was inducted into the Northwest Music Hall of Fame in 1989. In Seattle on March 13 of lung cancer.
