A preliminary hearing for City Clerk John Oliver, who faces one felony count of violating the state vehicle code, was postponed Thursday until April 15.

The Los Angeles district attorney’s office filed criminal charges against Oliver, 49, last month, accusing him of forging a 1997 license plate registration tab on a van he owned. Oliver pleaded not guilty.

Redondo Beach police discovered the vehicle with the allegedly forged sticker during a traffic enforcement patrol near Redondo Union High School in October, investigators said. If convicted, Oliver could face a maximum sentence of three years in prison in addition to losing his job.
