“The arrest and stiff jail terms provoked outrage from Washington,” writes your reporter. Am I missing something? The six activists from the U.S. went to the Kosovo region, which is in the middle of civil turmoil, with the intent to “lecture” ethnic Albanians on “nonviolent resistance” against legal Serbian authorities. They also failed to register with the police as required by law in that country. For this, they got 10 days in jail?

In my opinion they got off easy! They could have been arrested as foreign agents (troublemakers, agitators, etc.) and jailed for several years. Doesn’t our State Department advise our citizens to obey the laws of the countries they are visiting?
