Explosives Experts Disarm 2 Pipe Bombs at Gas Station
Two pipe bombs found behind a gasoline station Monday were rendered harmless by Los Angeles County sheriff’s arson and explosive experts after more than three hours, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the station at Torrance Boulevard and Vermont Avenue at 11 a.m. when they discovered the two devices on a driveway. Authorities closed the station and nearby streets until almost 3 p.m.
“It was nothing major,” said Eddie Howell, who manages the station, “but we lost a lot of business.”
