Integration

Re “Britain Becomes a Land of Methodists and Muslims,” March 23: The problem with racism at home and abroad is the concept of integration and its execution. Integration means melding into the dominant society and not the opposite.

So, one is not Asian American or Afro-British or any other hyphenated foreign import. An integrated person becomes an American citizen or a British citizen, leaving behind his or her source of origin, which no doubt will have some beneficial imperceptible mark on the newly acquired status.
