Vocational Program Offers Help for AIDS Patients

The Being Alive / West Hollywood HIV Day Program is offering a free vocational program for people with AIDS who want to return to work.

The program’s services include activities, lectures, in-house training, vocational rehabilitation and employment counseling.

Program participants can schedule appointments with job counselors from the state Department of Rehabilitation and consult with public benefits counselors from AIDS Project Los Angeles.

The program addresses such issues as maintaining health benefits, following medication regimes in the workplace and the psychosocial impact of returning to work with AIDS.

The program is sponsored by the city of West Hollywood, West Hollywood Employment Services and the training program of Jewish Vocational Services.

The day program meets Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the HIV Day Center, 621 N. San Vicente Blvd., West Hollywood.
