Dominguez Hills Campus Names Acting President
Herbert Carter, former executive vice chancellor of the California State University system and a current trustee professor, has been named acting president of Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson.
Carter, 64, will replace Robert Detweiler, who submitted his resignation in March after nine years at the helm of the university, saying it was “a good time for me to leave.” Carter will assume the post July 1.
“Naturally I am honored to be asked to fill this important position,” Carter said. “Because of my commitment to the communities served by Cal State Dominguez Hills . . . I welcome the challenge of leading the university at this particular time.”
A search committee for the permanent president will be formed shortly after Carter takes the position.
