A 37-year-old North Hollywood woman, who police described as mentally challenged and conversant only in Korean, was still missing Saturday, a day after she mysteriously disappeared from outside her home.

Los Angeles Police Sgt. Christopher Vasquez said the missing woman, Mi Ja Byon, was driven home from school by her teacher and dropped off in front of the building where she shares an apartment with her parents. But the parents never saw her arrive.

Byon, who police say has roughly the mental capacity of a 4-year-old, was last seen wearing a floral-print blouse, a black backpack and silver shoes.

The missing woman, who lives on the 11000 block of Hesby Street, is 5 feet, 2 inches tall, has black hair, brown eyes and weighs about 120 pounds, police said. She was first reported missing at 3:50 p.m. Friday by her parents.

“She has a history of leaving her home on buses,” Vasquez said.
