Breast-Cancer Run / Walk Is Saturday

Thousands of competitors are expected for the fifth annual Revlon Run / Walk for Women set for Saturday at the L.A. Coliseum.

The event has raised more than $5 million for cancer research, counseling and outreach programs. Beneficiaries of the 5K event include Revlon / UCLA Women’s Cancer Research Program, the Wellness Community, and USC / Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center & Hospital Ovarian Program.

According to studies, about 2.6 million American women have breast cancer, but in only 1.6 million of those has the disease been diagnosed. An estimated 46,000 will die of breast cancer this year, experts say.

On hand at the event will be host Whoopi Goldberg and Revlon spokeswomen Salma Hayek and Karen Duffy. Registration is $28.
