Odetics Inc.: The Anaheim supplier of communications equipment reported a net loss of $7.2 million, or 99 cents a share, for the fourth fiscal quarter ended March 31, which included a $2.1-million write-off of research and development related to an acquisition and $1.5 million in severance costs related to the retirement of some of the founders and senior officers of the company. A year earlier, the company earned $861,000, or 14 cents a share. Revenue declined 2% to $22 million from $22.5 million.

For the year, the company lost $6.6 million, or 95 cents a share, contrasted with profit of $3.7 million, or 59 cents a share, for the prior year. Revenue increased 11% to $89.8 million from $80.8 million. Odetics’ share of the results of operations of ATL Products Inc., which was spun off, are included through Oct. 31, 1997.
