Man Found Shot to Death in His Car
Detectives were working Thursday to piece together information about an apparent roadway confrontation that ended with a 26-year-old Westminster man shot to death in his car.
Sergio Hernandez was dead on arrival Wednesday night at UCI Medical Center in Orange shortly after police found him at the wheel of a car that crashed into a curb in the 2100 block of West 5th Street, Police Sgt. Steve Despenas said.
Hernandez died from a gunshot wound to the chest, Despenas said.
Detectives believe an abandoned car found nearby may belong to the shooter, and the early investigation suggests that Hernandez may have been chased by his killer just before the 10 p.m. attack, Despenas said.
The shooting does not appear to be gang-related, nor are there any obvious links to other recent motorist shootings.
