Huntington Cultivates 24th Annual Plant Sale

Share

Ask good gardeners where they got that exciting plant and chances are they found it at the Huntington Botanical Gardens’ plant sale. The 24th annual sale will be held this year from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17. Admission is free.

It’s been described as “the plant sale to die for,” and the theme this year is “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue.” There will be an assortment of plants with true-blue flowers, old-fashioned roses and herbs (such as woad and madder), and exciting new plants “borrowed” from collectors’ gardens or from rare plant nurseries throughout the state.

The wise bring a wagon in which to cart their treasures around; the crafty join one of the Huntington support groups to get into a preview the day before from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
