Boy, 2, Drowns in Pool at Home
A 2-year-old Stanton boy drowned in a backyard pool during a Mother’s Day gathering at his parent’s home, the Orange County Fire Authority said.
The boy’s family had been celebrating inside and in front of the house when the boy went through the rear sliding door and fell into the pool about 7:50 p.m., said Capt. Scott Brown of the Fire Authority.
Paramedics estimated that the boy, identified as Emanuel Olivas, had been in the water for about 15 minutes. The drowning occurred in the 9500 block of Crestwood Lane.
“It was a large family get-together and at some point the child went undetected,” Brown said.
After failed resuscitation efforts, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
“There were no pool barriers and there were toys in the pool,” Brown said.
