ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

STM Wireless Inc.: The Irvine provider of communications equipment lost $4.1 million, or 62 cents a share, for the first quarter, contrasted with net income of $152,000, or 2 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue declined 16% to $6.9 million from $8.2 million. The company said 1997 figures were restated to include the results of Telecom International, which was acquired in December 1997.

STM also said it agreed to sell its Telecom Multimedia Systems Inc. unit to Inter-Tel Inc. for $25 million cash, plus acquisition costs.
