NYC Ballet to Keep Date in O.C.

The cancellation of the New York City Ballet’s national tour this summer will not affect the company’s scheduled performance at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in October, organizers said.

Managers of the 90-member troupe announced earlier this year that the City Ballet didn’t raise enough money to pull off the 50-state tour, which has been publicized for two years.

“Fortunately for us, the company has a long-standing relationship with our center and chose to keep their fall engagement here,” said Greg Patterson, a spokesman for the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.

Patterson said the City Ballet was the first dance company to appear at the center when it opened in 1986.

The tour was planned to mark the company’s 50th anniversary.

“We are thrilled and grateful that they have not canceled the Orange County show,” Patterson said.
