British Airways Adds Budget Wing
British Airways will shoulder its way into the budget, short-haul business on Friday, when it launches Go--a subsidiary company flying within Europe. London-Rome flights will start Friday, followed by London-Milan on Saturday and London-Copenhagen on June 5. For all destinations, the introductory round-trip fare, good for tickets bought by May 31, is about $178; more cities are to be added later.
The flights, leaving from Stansted airport, northeast of London, can be booked by calling Go in England, tel. 011-44-8456-054-321; there is no U.S. sales office. A competitor has sued BA over Go, charging unfair competition, but the suit wasn’t expected to delay the start-up.
