Sharper Image Corp. said it will revamp its Internet site and offer new products exclusively over the Net in an effort to reach younger customers and those in international markets. The retailer of pricey high-tech items saw its shares soar on the news, by $1.56, or 31%, to close at $7.96 in Nasdaq trading. The new https://www.sharperimage.com site, to be launched in June, furthers the San Francisco-based company’s strategy to reach customers beyond its catalogs and 80 retail stores. Sharper Image, whose target customers are affluent executives, expects the Web site to reach a new consumer, the typical Internet user, who is slightly younger than its current average customer. The company said it is developing about 50 new products to be introduced exclusively on the Internet during the next 24 months. The new products will be designed to appeal to customers worldwide and will be priced from about $40 to $100.
