Twins Can’t Hold Big Lead and Lose
Damion Easley hit two home runs and drove in six runs to rally the Detroit Tigers to an 12-11 victory against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night.
Easley hit two-run homers in the seventh and eighth inning, the second putting the Tigers up, 11-9, completing their comeback from an 8-2 deficit.
Detroit took a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run double by Easley.
In the bottom of the first, the Twins sent 11 batters to the plate to take an 8-2 lead.
The runs scored on a double by Marty Cordova, a groundout by Orlando Merced, an infield single by Ron Coomer, a two-run single by Pat Meares, and Todd Walker’s homer to right field.
Coomer gave the Twins a 9-3 lead in the fifth with his eighth homer.
Coomer has hit six of the Twins’ last 13 home runs.
