Fatally Beaten Inmate Found in Jail
An inmate who was apparently beaten to death was found Saturday by sheriff’s deputies in the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, just north of downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was discovered at 12:30 a.m. motionless and face down, said Deputy Steve Sciacca, adding that jail medical personnel later pronounced him dead.
Sheriff’s detectives would not reveal where the man was found inside the jail, nor the events surrounding his death. Sciacca said detectives will continue interviewing several inmates who may have been witnesses.
