Childhood and Children
Re “From Womb to Tomb, a Society Hellbent on Keeping Busy,” May 17.
Hats off to Alicia A. Reynolds for sticking up for childhood for children.
I read her commentary with relief and solidarity. Almost daily, I lament the pressure put upon my 8-year-old and our family by baseball. He is on a team with a wonderful “let’s-have-fun” attitude, yet we have practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday and a game on Tuesday or Thursday and a game on Saturday! It has driven my son to resenting his commitment to “fun.” What is wrong with this picture?
Last week, by purpose and accident, we took most of the week off. Our son actually had the opportunity to play with the neighborhood friends, and I had the time to take the kids to the library!
Give back childhood to our children!
