YMCA Golf Tourney Will Benefit Children

Share

In an effort to raise money to subsidize club memberships for underprivileged children, the West Valley Family YMCA will launch its first “Friends of Youth” golf tournament.

With a policy that no child is ever turned away for lack of ability to pay, YMCA officials hope the fund-raiser will enable them to expand programs and involve families in club activities.

It is hoped proceeds from the tournament also will allow more children to participate in activities and lessons that are not included in the $35 annual membership fee.

The West Valley YMCA, which has been in the area for more than 50 years, offers programs, lessons and sports activities to hundreds of children each day.

Officials said they have not set a fund-raising goal. The fee per golfer is $175.

The tournament is scheduled for June 8 at 1 p.m. at Sunset Hills Country Club, 4155 Erbes Road North, Thousand Oaks.

More information is available by calling the club at (818) 774-2840.
