City Hires New Deputy Attorney

Share

Ventura lawyer Tim W. Giles has been hired as a deputy city attorney focusing on code enforcement issues for the city of Thousand Oaks.

Giles, 34, joins an office of three other lawyers representing this city of 114,000. In addition to code enforcement, he will handle insurance questions, claims, personal-injury matters and other general litigation. Giles will also be involved in assessing the city’s liability for a massive sewer main break in February.

The lawyer previously worked at the Oxnard firm of Lawler, Bonham & Walsh, which handles most of the city’s personal-injury lawsuits.

A native of Kansas, Giles received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wichita State University. He said he chose Pepperdine University’s School of Law after seeing the Malibu school’s glossy, beachy brochure--a welcome respite from Kansas’ bitter winters. He received his juris doctorate in 1989.

His appointment, at $59,040 a year, was approved by the City Council during the last budget session.
