A Los Angeles police officer broke his shoulder after his motorcycle crashed on the Ventura Freeway during rush hour Wednesday morning.

Officer Ken Hobbs, 50, a Calabasas resident assigned to the LAPD’s West Los Angeles Traffic Division, was eastbound just east of Las Virgenes Road when his bike was rear-ended by a car, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

“The impact totaled the motorcycle and ejected him onto the ground,” CHP Officer Dwight McDonald said.
