Suspect Sought in 2 Gas Station Holdups

Authorities believe a pair of armed robberies that occurred in Camarillo and Ventura early Thursday may be connected.

The first robbery occurred shortly after 3 a.m., when a man walked into the Mobil gas station on the 4700 block of Pleasant Valley Road in Camarillo. He pointed a semiautomatic pistol at the teller, ordered him to lie on the floor, and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, sheriff’s officials said.

An hour later, a man held up the USA Fuel Center on Victoria Avenue in Ventura. The man pointed a handgun at a 24-year-old female attendant and made her lie face down in some nearby bushes before he walked away, Ventura police said.

Authorities believe one robber may be responsible for both holdups.

They are looking for a suspect described as a black man in his mid-20s wearing dark clothing and a dark baseball cap. He is about 6 feet tall, 180 to 200 pounds and has freckles and a mustache. No one was hurt in the two robberies, and no arrests had been reported as of late Thursday.
