Man Charged With Drowning His Son, 6
A Florida man was in jail on charges that he drowned his 6-year-old son while trying to teach the boy to hold his breath under water, police said. Despite the boy’s screams and gasps, Jesse Koenig, 29, repeatedly pushed his head under water at Lake Weir in central Florida for more than an hour as his wife, brother and lakefront bar patrons pleaded with him to stop, according to an affidavit from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Police reports quoted Koenig as telling onlookers: “He’s my boy and he’s going to learn how to hold his breath.”
