Security Guard Killed in Robbery; 3 Sought
A security guard was shot and killed Tuesday during a holdup at a market in the unincorporated Florence neighborhood, authorities said.
Deputies are looking for three suspects who fled with an undetermined amount of cash after the 12:30 p.m. robbery at Big Foods Saver Market on Compton Avenue, Sheriff’s Deputy Joan Raber said. The guard was pronounced dead at a local hospital, she said.
The guard’s name and details of the shooting were not immediately released.
Each of the suspects fled in a different car. According to Raber, one was in a late-1970s green Oldsmobile Cutlass, another was a late model brown and cream Buick Regal and the third was a Pontiac Firebird.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about the shooting to call sheriff’s homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500.
