Tour Sales Start for 2000 Sydney Olympics

The authorized U.S. Travel Agent for the U.S. Olympic Committee has begun taking advance reservations for various package tours to the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

Cartan Tours in Manhattan Beach will offer everything from budget- to five-star hotel packages. Six-night stays in Sydney will be priced from about $5,000 to $7,000, said Don Williams, Cartan vice president. The price includes round-trip air fare to Australia, hotel, breakfasts, ground transportation and tickets to eight Olympic events. The most popular Summer Olympics events are typically track and field, swimming, gymnastics and basketball. Longer stays of 18 nights and tickets to more Olympic events are likely to cost $14,000 to $16,000 per person, Williams said.

A refundable deposit of $500 per person is required to reserve until Cartan brochures, with final package prices, come out in December. For more information, call Cartan at (310) 546-9662.

Cartan is a longtime seller of Olympic tour packages, and is also the official U.S. ticket agent for the Sydney Olympic Committee, although other companies will also offer Olympic tour packages.
