2nd Quarter Net Sales Dip at AML Communications

Share

AML Communications in Camarillo reported net sales for the second quarter ended Sept. 30 of $1.6 million, compared with $2.8 million for the same period a year earlier.

The company reported a net loss for the quarter of $550,000, or 9 cents per share, compared with net income of $123,000, or 2 cents per diluted share, for the same period a year ago.

“Results for the second quarter reflect delays and cancellations in orders from several original-equipment manufacturers and telecommunications-operator customers,” said Jacob Inbar, president and chief executive officer. “While we are disappointed with our performance for the quarter, AML’s participation in the Wireless Local Loop [market] remains an important component to the company’s long-term growth strategy, supported by solid relationships with leading telecommunications customers.”

Wireless telephony systems provide an alternative to copper and fiber optic cable-based systems because they can be implemented more quickly and less expensively, company officials said.

AML manufactures amplifiers for the cellular, paging and satellite communication markets.
