Finnish Children Chew Gum to Fight Cavities

I read your article on decay-preventing chewing gum. Last year, I hosted a boy from Finland through AFS Intercultural. Jussi brought a lot of chewing gum with him; Jenkki was the brand. His mother told me that Finnish dentists have studied the preventive effects of this gum, and it has significantly reduced the cavity rates for Finnish children. About the only negative that I could see was the aggravation of seeing the constant chewing--kids remind me of cows with jaws eternally in motion.
