UCLA Rolls to Win as Martin Scores 23

Maylana Martin scored 23 points and pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds Sunday as No. 14 UCLA defeated West Virginia, 91-76, in a women’s basketball game before 1,522 at Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins (1-2) controlled the game from the start, leading at the half, 42-34, and expanding the lead to 22 points in the second half.
West Virginia’s Rebecca Burbridge scored a game-high 27 points, making seven of 14 three-point shots.
The Bruins pulled away from the Mountaineers (1-2) with a 10-1 spurt that gave them an 84-64 lead with 2:41 to play.
Janae Hubbard scored 18 points and Marie Philman scored 17 for the Bruins.
USC 65, Fresno State 59--Adrian Williams scored 22 points to lead the Trojans (2-0) over the Bulldogs (1-2) in front of 853 at Fresno.
Kristin Clark had 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds for USC, which erased a 30-28 halftime deficit by making 42.4% of its shots in the second half after making only 31.4% in the first 20 minutes.
Tashara Carter scored 10 points for the Trojans.
Jessie Farias led Fresno with 14 points.
