Voice Powered Technology Reports Loss in Quarter

Voice Powered Technology International in Simi Valley reported a net loss for the quarter that ended Sept. 30 of $185,000 or 0.2 of a cent per share on sales of $588,000.

Comparable figures for the same quarter last year were a net loss of $1.2 million or 8 cents per share on sales of $463,000.

For the nine months that ended Sept. 30, the company reported net income of $490,000 or 1 cent per share on sales of $1.4 million. That figure included a one-time gain of $1.2 million related to debt forgiveness resulting from the company’s settlements with creditors in accordance with its reorganization plan.

Voice Powered Technology designs portable voice-recognition consumer electronics products under the IQVOICE brand. Its most commercially successful product is the IQVOICE Organizer, a voice-powered calendar, reminder, telephone directory and recorder.
