Gore’s Remarks
* Re “Gore Gets Scolding From APEC, Business Leaders,” Nov. 18: So Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad’s government ministers denounced Vice President Al Gore for criticizing Malaysia’s human rights record at a banquet hosted by the prime minister. It is astonishing that the ministers would feel free to denounce the vice president, since criticism of a head of government is not a privilege that they freely allow their own citizens. Perhaps they should have listened more closely to what the vice president was saying.
