GARDEN GROVE

Recycled and discarded tires are being melted down to resurface cracked and aged roads throughout the city as part of a rubberized-asphalt program. The new resurfacing puts to use some of the 30 million scrap tires the state generates each year. More than 2,000 discarded tires go into repaving every lane mile.
