A San Clemente woman was recently appointed by Gov. Pete Wilson to a state advisory panel studying ways to assist students in meeting their career goals.

Meredith Khachigian, a community and public affairs consultant and former member of the University of California Board of Regents, was named to the School-to-Career Advisory Council. She currently chairs a committee on health services, which provides oversight for the four hospitals and medical schools maintained by the University of California. She previously served as executive director of Vital Link of Orange County, which provides a link between business and education to prepare students for the transition to employment.

The School-to-Career Advisory Council will make recommendations to the governor. California is slated to receive about $131.4 million by 2001 to implement the program.
