Susan McDougal
* The Nov. 25 article about Susan McDougal states, “The woman who went to jail rather than rat out her friends, Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton . . . “ The inflammatory use of the words “rat out” implies that she is withholding information that would incriminate the Clintons. It has been my understanding that she went to jail not to withhold information but rather refused to lie about them to please Kenneth Starr.
I could not let this misuse of words stand.

* I’m not surprised that McDougal was found not guilty (Nov. 24). In a society that gives a pass to murder, partial-birth abortions, assisted suicide, perjury, what’s wrong with a little embezzlement?

* Bet there was no one more shocked by the verdict than McDougal. (We’ll never know.)
