Rosalyn Hayes and Dani Stoller first met at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in 1991. She was an engineer from Gary, Ind., with a degree in robotics and had designed automated manufacturing lines for Cessna Aircraft. He was a precision prototype machinist from Switzerland who had helped produce prosthetic devices. Both had a passion for modern furniture, so last year they joined forces to open Lush Life, a Los Angeles interior design, prop and furniture company. “We like to take pieces from the past with good lines and use new materials to move them forward into the millennium,” Hayes says. Their vibrant mid-century-inspired pieces have playful names such as “Miss Ann,” “Jellybean” and “Deuces Wild” and come in silvery powder-coated finishes and sexy silk and stretch fabrics. Says Stoller: “We want to offer designs that will make people smile and feel good.”
