Valley’s Week to Start Out Warmer and Sunny
Sunny skies and afternoon temperatures in the low 80s are expected today and Tuesday across the San Fernando Valley, forecasters said.
An area of high pressure has made its way over the West Coast, bringing sunshine over the Valley, said Jeff House, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., which provides forecast information to The Times. Light winds blowing toward the ocean will help chase away the marine layer that causes fog and patchy clouds in the morning, House said.
“Enjoy the first part of the week because it’s going to be a nice one,” House said.
The warmest spot today in the Valley is expected to be Chatsworth, which could see a high of 83 degrees. Slightly cooler temperatures are predicted for Woodland Hills, Van Nuys and Burbank.
The forecast for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday calls for mostly sunny skies and slightly cooler afternoon temperatures, ranging from the mid- to upper 70s, with areas of patchy fog in the morning. Morning lows are expected to be in the low 50s through Friday.
The ultraviolet index for today at noon, when the sun’s rays are the most direct, is 6, a moderate level.
Individuals with fair complexions will start to burn in 10 to 12 minutes unless protected, House said.
