Cheating’s Acceptable Because Teachers Say So

I couldn’t believe it when I read the quote from the English teacher who has become “desensitized” to the apparently rampant cheating in her class (Life & Style, Sept. 11).

She claims that if she turned in a student for cheating, she would be turning them in all the time. To this confused instructor:

It is rather unfortunate that you did not identify yourself or your school because I personally would have sued the board of education for your immediate termination. That apathetic attitude, teacher, is precisely why we have high school grads who cannot read and don’t know right from wrong.

It’s no wonder that 80% of the top-level students admitted to cheating. It’s lazy morons like yourself who have taught them that it is acceptable.
