An armed man robbed a Carl’s Jr. restaurant in mid-city Ventura on Tuesday and then fled on a bicycle, police said.

The robbery occurred at 2427 E. Thompson Blvd. shortly after 4 p.m., Ventura Police Lt. Bill Bogner said. The gunman entered the fast-food restaurant with a gray-colored shirt covering part of his head and face, Bogner said.

The robber pointed a gun at employees behind a counter and demanded money. He left on a bike with an undisclosed amount of cash stuffed in a paper bag, officers said.

The employees “had enough of a view they could tell his head was almost shaved and he was clean-shaven,” Bogner said.

The robber was described as Latino, in his 20s and riding a bike with a rear tire that was a whitewall.

No one was injured and the restaurant remained open for business.

Eight police officers interviewed witnesses and searched the area, Bogner said. Between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m., officers stopped two bicycle riders who matched the description of the suspect. There were no arrests.
