Forums to Showcase Candidates’ Positions

Residents may attend a range of forums this month to hear candidates for City Council and for city attorney describe their platforms.

Eleven candidates are vying for four seats on the council in the Nov. 3 election; the city attorney has one challenger for her post.

Here are some of the forums:

* The Council on Aging will host a breakfast forum at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Rodgers Seniors Center, 1706 Orange Ave. Candidates will speak and take questions from the audience, and everyone gets a free breakfast. Information: (714) 536-9387.

* The two city attorney candidates will speak at the Chamber of Commerce Winners’ Circle Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the SeaCliff Country Club, 6501 Palm Ave. Reservations must be made by 5 p.m. today, and there is a fee of $12 for Chamber members and $17 for nonmembers. * The League of Women Voters and the American Assn. of University Women will host a forum from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 20 in council chambers at 2000 Main St. City attorney candidates will speak at 6:40 p.m. The forum will be broadcast live on HBTV-3, which will rebroadcast the event throughout the month.

The station’s Nov. 3 election night coverage will begin at 10 p.m.
