Pact OKd for Work on Eastside Runoff

Share

Relief is coming to residents who have complained that runoff from the Santa Ana Freeway is sending pools of putrid water into their cul-de-sacs.

The City Council Monday approved a $3.6-million construction contract for work on 4th Street and Eastside Avenue, which has been plagued by runoff from culverts that Caltrans installed during a freeway widening project. About $300,000 will come from Caltrans. Caltrans officials said they are paying to upgrade the drainage system on the state’s portion of the streets.

Workers will build a structure to connect to a local storm drain system that will be installed under Eastside Avenue.
